I’m taking you back to 2013. After a long morning of traveling by coach and a walk in the blazing afternoon sun, this was my reward.

That very first glimpse of ‘The Khazneh el Faroun’ or ‘Treasury Of The Parooh’ in Petra was a moment where I was totally speechless and so excited to continue the walk to the temple. The long traveling journey was long forgotten. It is part of the ‘7 New Wonders Of The World’ and I’m not surprised by that at all. So much history, so much detail,… I felt so small.

Petra, Inhabited since prehistoric times, this Nabataean caravan-city, situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea, was an important crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syria-Phoenicia. Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.
